March! Where did February go?...

Wow it's the last week of March already!  I can't believe how fast this year is going.  It was an early start to the school year for my son due to education department date changes.  It was also an early start at university for my daughter as she is a 2nd year student and the residence committee secretary and part of her duties was to organise the decorating of the residence for the 1st years and to help introduce them to varsity life and orientation week.  Lectures started on 11th February so it was a busy time for her but a happy one connecting with new students and old friends.  In amongst that two week period between orientation week and lectures, she made a video for me and, thanks to technology, sent it to me.  Technology drives me crazy when I have to keep learning new things when I didn't think the old way was broken but I certainly appreciate it, and Catherine. for the way it helps when we are a 10 hour drive apart!

I have been posting on the Yarn Stash Pmb facebook page lots of Ravelry patterns  as suggestions to use with the yarns available on this website.  It's been fun and I will continue to do that throughout the year.  I often post patterns from groups I follow but thought it was time to look for patterns that I personally like and plan to knit some of them during the year as well.  It's a great plan but no big promises as I spin and weave as well as try to read and do some family history as well.

I am currently knitting a slouchy cardigan for Catherine as it gets very cold where her varsity is - this will take priority over any other knitting I have as I need to finish it so she can take it back after the first term holidays!  The yarn was hand dyed by Catherine during one of her holidays but the pattern I started didn't work out well so I frogged it and began with another pattern which is going well.  However more yarn will have to be dyed as this pattern is for a much longer cardigan than the original.  First job for Catherine once she arrives for her holidays tomorrow evening!  I will never finish it in these holidays so it will be sent down to her with a box of goodies in the 2nd term.

I am also planning to do lots more dyeing with Catherine and hoping that she will make time to do some sewing that she cannot do at varsity.

There are 2 events coming up in the next few months - National Alpaca Day is in April and our local Alpaca farm in Curry's Post will be holding an event over the Saturday and Sunday of the Easter weekend.  I will be selling at this event although not my full inventory as the Royal Agricultural Show in Pietermaritzburg is fast approaching at the end of May and that is 10 days long so want to build up plenty of stock for that event.  I look forward to seeing my local regular customers as well as meeting lots of new yarn lovers at these 2 events.  Come on by and say hello to my friend Clare and I as well sell and demonstrate spinning and weaving.

New yarns will be going onto the website once they have been photographed and different tools and accessories have been added too.  I will be launching a surprise accessory at the Royal Agricultural Show so keep watching this space!
